SAFE HARBOR NEW CALENDAR AND ENVIRONMENT

The Safe Harbor Ethnological Museum is located in the town of Salamanca, after the town hall, Emilio García Lorenzo Street No. 3. The village currently has fewer than 100 inhabitants and is located in the southern part of the Natural Park of Douro Arribes and Agueda. The village is located on high ground between the River Agueda, in this term and has prayed a deep valley, and the Rivera de Dos Casas, west of the province of Salamanca and bordering with Portugal.
Safe Harbor has a beautiful natural setting mainly due to its geographical location and partly to the isolation which is subjected to poor infrastructure and roads. Traditionally it was a village of farmers, but the neglect of agriculture and the concerns of its inhabitants to give their children run has propiaciado depopulation of the town, which is overwhelmed by the return of their sons and daughters, and relatives during Easter holidays and in summer, its population increased tenfold. Its people are warm and rare is the visitor who is not enamored of the town and back that promise ... and usually return.
Some, even though not born in the village, but the fact of having married a native of Puerto Seguro, after paying the wine to the servants, have adopted as if it were their own people, and do claim to feel more of the people that others really are.
Safe Harbor If you're talking to the people, appreciate it a lot, ask to see the Church, worked by D. Joseph, the priest who was pastor 50 years until his death, the Ethnological Museum and the Hermitage of the Nazarene. If you want to see the beautiful landscapes you will enter the Agueda, ask to join the Tower, is next to San Felices way but you can have fun. In fact, this road has an illustrious name, is the GR-14-1 or Path of the Great River Agueda Arribes del Duero. You can also go to the Rivera de Dos Casas, the Meadow, the Dam or the Baths. Y if you want to know unusual places you have to find a guide to accompany you to the Buraquita or Lombo.
This small town has two cultural associations, the association and the association Peña Rota Fuente Nueva, is the Home for the Elderly (another partnership), and every two months ago published the newsletter "Peña Rota," through which you know the history of the people in the last thirty years.
During the summers, in addition to beautiful scenery, you can enjoy art, culture and traditions. Javier
